Hellooooooooo!! It has been a long time, my friends, but Bi the Way is back in business!

I’m going to take this opportunity to give readers news about the LGBTQ community from a macro to a very micro level. My mission is to inform readers, advocate for equality, and encourage others to join my cause (not my “team”).

So to catch you up on the national gay news…PERRY VS SCHWARZENEGGER!! On August 4th, Chief Judge Vaughn Walker ruled that Proposition 8 in the California Constitution (prohibiting the recognition of same-sex marriages) violated the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. But just to make the happy gay and lesbian couples wait even longer to have their marriages recognized, on August 16th, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ordered the judgement to pend appeal. But we’ll win it soon enough!! Thank you so much to Kristin Perry and Sandra Steir and Paul Katami and Jeffrey Zarrillo, the couples that sued the state when they were denied marriage licenses. Thank you for standing up for equality for yourselves, for the LGBT community, and for love. Best of luck and happiness to these couples!

And onto the local gay news. The Loras College Alliance just rocked Campus Fest! Being such a small group on campus, the Alliance gets very little funding and we haven’t really captured the “wow factor” for our sign up tables at Campus Fest…until today! President Travand myself, Vice President, decided it was time to make a change. With the help of Maria, Natalie, and Darren the Alliance table had a rainbow balloon arch, a giant rainbow flag as a table cloth, a rainbow tye dye “All You Need is Love” tapestry, and an array of other rainbow jazz (including a hackey sack)! Maria and I were decked out in rainbow and white wedding veils (supporting gay marriage) while Trav rocked rainbow suspenders, GYT stickers, a rainbow pride flag, and…rainbow…feathered…wings! We got almost two whole pages of people to sign up! And someone asked me if this was the first year we were at Campus Fest (not exactly, but this was the first time we REALLY were at Campus Fest!) Congrats Loras Alliance for an incredible table and thank you to all the interested Loras students!

And the micro level of gay news: my girlfriend Maria and I just hit 9 months together! So readers, please do not think that you cannot be loved and appreciated for who you really are! There is someone out there twiddling his or her thumbs just waiting for the real you to love! I love you, Bayba!

Til next time!

Peace. Love. Equality.
