Though Daughters of Isabella created its first circle in 1897, it wasn’t until recently that Loras themselves have formed a circle in purpose of uniting Catholic women. Their aim is to get to know one another better, to extend their circle of friends, centralize their resources to help one another, and to help pursuit the good in our society. This organization has created bonds among many women throughout the world.
Starting only a year ago, this chapter, which began with the work of only a few students, has expanded to nearly 50 people. This has placed it on top, making it the largest circle among colleges. This includes colleges all over the United States, as well as Canada and Japan. Loras’ Daughters of Isabella chapter has recently been invited to attend the International Daughters of Isabella Conference, scheduled to be held in August in Montreal, Canada.
The conference will be held to discuss the daughters’ constitution and bylaws. Loras will be sending two of its own members, Megan Godfrey and Dana Disteldorf in hopes to help the international circle better understand the college circles everywhere, and how they are run. This will be the first time that the international Conference will see college students attending, with the ability to place a vote.
“This is going to be a great opportunity not only for us to learn and take things away from the conference, but also to put Loras College out there in an international way.” -Megan Godfrey
Megan and Dana plan on attending this conference in hopes to be a voice for not only Loras, but colleges all over the world.
